Me and RSS
Nov 6th, 2006 by ck
RSS is not a fresh term to those who frequently read news/blogs/articles online, what is so good about it? With it, I don’t have to visit all my different favorite sites to get myself updated. Instead, I can subscribe to those sites and view it in a central location, saving the hassle of opening different sites. I can quickly scan through all the entries with brief description, and click on it to view the full story only if it’s needed.
Among all the RSS readers (some are standalone applications, some are web-based, and some are integrated into email client and even web browsers), I’m using Google Reader. Reasons? Firstly, web-based reader allows me to have the same settings wherever I am. Secondly, I’ve a Google Account already means I don’t have to create myself new password (I know I’m lazy LOL)

This is the list of my subscribed RSS feeds:
- Engadget - news site about gadgets and other technological stuffs.
- Gizmodo - very similar to Engadget, but sometimes I can read articles that aren’t available there.
- MSFN Software - Firefox 2.0 is released? Windows Media Player 11 is ready? Here is the place I get all my latest software updates.
- Neowin - Neowin.net is a technology news website that activly focuses on Windows, PCs, Mac and Linux.
- The Star Online - Enough of technological sites already! Read some national news instead!
- ESPN Soccernet - Manchester United beat Portsmouth? Liverpool 2 - 0 Reading? Get all the football updates here.
Last but not least, wish you happy RSS’ing!
