Windows Vista’s Speech Recognition
Feb 3rd, 2007 by ck

I’ve just tried out the Vista’s Speech Recognition this morning. Setting up was pretty easy, I just had to configure the microphone, learn basic commands and dictation by taking a speech tutorial (which was pretty long but impressive) - and voila! I can now control my computer with my voice rather than Keyboard/Mouse!
I then ordered my system to start notepad by using my voice, cool! It was getting interesting, I managed to pick a portion of headline article from TheStar online here:
“KEPALA BATAS: The employment prospects of community college students will improve from the present 57% to 80% under a rebranding exercise of these institutions.
The main thrust of the exercise will involve closer collaboration with the private sector so that courses offered by the 35 colleges – which will be upgraded to diploma level – are tailored to market requirements.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who unveiled the rebranding measures yesterday, later witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Higher Education Ministry and 33 companies involved in the collaboration.
“The companies, which include Government-linked ones, will provide input to the colleges’ curriculum as well as provide training for the students with a view to employing them later,” he said in his speech at the launch of the rebranding exercise here.
“This will give the students hands-on experience and increase their employability.”
He said the collaboration would also allow lecturers to be on attachment with the companies to gain experience on new developments in industry.”
I read it out with my own voice, without doing a single correction, and here’s the outcome:
