Aero Support for Media Player Classic
Mar 3rd, 2007 by ck
After switching to Windows Vista, everything has been pretty good except that whenever I want to play video file via my favorite lightweight media player – MPC, the eye-catching Aero effect had to be dropped. Meaning to say, there will be no flip3D, no transparent window, nothing.
However, thanks to dattebayo’s workaround here, it is still possible to get MPC worked with Aero. The trick is, just select any mode other than “Overlay Mixer” in Output options, in my case, “VMR9 (Renderless)” is selected:

And voila…my beloved Aero effect is back :p

According to dattebayo, however, there will be minor impact in term of performance, but it doesn’t really matter to me :-)
