Nokia 1110i Review
Apr 5th, 2007 by ck
Because of different offers from different network providers (for example, Digi and Maxis), and some people need to make frequent oversea trips, holding two mobile phones has become increasingly common nowadays. While most of the people may be using high-end models like Sony Ericsson K800i or Nokia Nseries as their primary phone, they usually opt for a low-end, budget phones as their secondary mobile. I’m no exception - I just got my second Maxis sim card on Sunday together with a cheap Nokia 1110i.
Specifications wise, this phone has got really nothing to brag about - Monochrome display, no GPRS/3G/MMS at all, no MP3 support, rather average design… What it offers is really just the light weight, cheap price (RM150), and normal functionalities such as making phone calls, sending/receiving SMS and setting alarm. As usual, here are some pros and cons about the phone that I can think of:
Pros:
- Very cheap price (RM150). If you just need a secondary phone for basic functions like making call or sending SMS, why pay more for functions that you don’t really need? It’s also an affordable phones for entry-level market.
- Light and small. With the weight of 80g and the dimension of 104 x 44 x 17 mm, this mobile is very easy to carry, I can in fact put it in my shirt pocket most of the time.
- Surprisingly good battery life. To be honest, I haven’t had the need to charge my hand phone yet since 4 days ago, now the battery life is still more than 50%. My usage pattern is around 3-4 short phone calls per day.
Cons:
- Average design. It doesn’t look really ugly but it’s not as cool as Motorola’s low cost phone - Moto F3 which gives us the feel of SLVR.
- Not really considered a con, but I really can’t get used to this phone till now because I’m a regular Sony Ericsson user (for example, the way to lock/unlock a Nokia phone is totally different, and also the “Space” button when composing SMS)
- It’s really hard to imagine a phone with yellow-light monochrome display and no data transfer functionality AT ALL. But well, you really get what you pay for :-)
The bottomline:
- Considering the low price and long battery life, this is an ideal phone for someone who’s looking for something cheap but yet practical for making phone calls. I never compare it with other low cost phones like Moto F3 or Sony Ericsson J-series, but I’m pretty satisfied with it and would give it a 7/10.
